1. This is what makes Kenzingen so special
The foothills of the Black Forest on one side, the Rhine plain on the other. In the middle is Kenzingen. In the middle of the green, pretty centrally between Offenburg and Freiburg. “With the public transport you can get from Kenzingen at Freiburg main station faster than from Rieselfeld,” says Mayor Matthias Guderjan. This makes the city very attractive, especially for commuters.
2. That is how old the place is
In 1249 the city was founded by Rudolf II from Üsenberg. The Alemannic village of Alten-Kenzingen, which was a bit to the east, writes Rainer Kiewat in his illustrated book on the city’s history, was mentioned in a document as early as 722.
