Covid-19: back to school disrupted in Vescovato and Sisco

The Vescovato village school has experienced a back-to-school period under pressure, after a school teacher in the workforce tested positive for the coronavirus. The mayor, Benoit Bruzi, in agreement with the National Education, followed the protocol which initially required isolating all contact persons, following the instructions recommended by the Corsican Regional Health Agency.

The school has undergone total disinfection, carried out by a specialized company. It may remain closed on Monday, insofar as this Tuesday, September 8, feast of the Nativity of the Virgin, will be a holiday in Vescovato, by municipal decision. This would postpone the reopening of the school until Thursday, seeing it more clearly, as Benoit Bruzi pointed out.

In Sisco, a young resident of the village was tested positive for Covid-19. However, his mother is part of the municipal staff working in the school.

The mayor, Ange-Pierre Vivoni, consulted the members of the municipal council and “The decision was taken unanimously: there will be no municipal officials at the school on Monday because one of them has been in contact with a positive case. The teaching staff will, on the other hand, be present and will welcome the children at 8:20 am “

This school will therefore not open its doors tomorrow at 7 am, opening of the daycare.

Six municipal officers are assigned to this four-class school which accommodates 72 students. They are on site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with three officials permanently present.

“This is only a preventive measure, specifies Ange-Pierre Vivoni. The analysis laboratory has agreed to take these agents as a priority this Saturday morning to perform tests. I thank him for his diligence. The results of the tests will be known on Tuesday, but there will be no class on that day so we don’t want to expose the children on Monday for a day of school. There was never any question of closing the school, it is not within our competence. We hope Thursday everything will be back to normal. “

The rectorate indicates that “after being informed of a positive case in the entourage of a school staff, the academic inspectorate seized the ARS. This afternoon (read yesterday afternoon), the results of the ARS investigation have ruled out any risk of contact among school staff. The school will be open Monday and welcome all students. The information has been sent to parents. “

64 new positive cases in Corsica

The regional health agency made a new point yesterday about the health situation in Corsica.

821 RT-PCR samples were taken in Corse-du-Sud and 698 in Haute-Corse. There are 33 new positive cases at Covid-19 in Corse-du-Sud and 29 in Haute-Corse among those tested living in Corsica. Two positive cases were detected in non-residents. That is a total of 64.

At the Bastia hospital center, there are two returns home and four new admissions (three in conventional hospitalization, one in intensive care) for a total of ten patients currently treated (including two in intensive care).

At Ajaccio hospital center, there are no new patients but four are still hospitalized in SSR (follow-up and rehabilitation care).
