Jakarta: Head of the Eijkman Institute for Molecular Biology, Amin Subandrio, said the mutation of the corona virus (covid-19) or the D614G virus strain has not been proven to be transmissible from between humans. A number of assumptions about the D614G are also not scientifically proven.
“There is no clinical evidence of human-to-human transmission at all,” Amin said during a virtual Crosscheck discussion Medcom.id entitled ‘Refused to Enter Malaysia, What Should Indonesia Do?’, Sunday, 6 September 2020.
Amin said assumptions D614G associated with severe and minor illness. However, there is no scientific evidence about this link.

He also emphasized that the suspicion that the red and white vaccine currently being developed by Indonesia does not work on D614G is wrong. He said the mutations that emerged would not affect the vaccine’s performance.
“It does not interfere with vaccine work at all,” he said.

The D614G strain, said Amin, first appeared in China and Germany in January 2020. At that time, Germany immediately investigated D614G in the laboratory.
“The virus can infect human cells at a faster rate than non-mutants,” he explained.
The D614G mutation first appeared in Indonesia since April 2020. The virus was found in one patient by Airlangga University.
A number of regions reported the same findings. Amin said that until now there were only nine findings of the D614G mutation. “But maybe there will be more,” said Amin.
