“It is not yet well defined. We are in the process of measuring all the production costs that will be ours in the coming months ”, said the leader of the pharmaceutical company, welcoming the“ risk sharing with the States ”that allows to have prices“ as low as possible ”and leaving a guarantee: “We will be less than 10 euros per dose”.
Faced with the cost of about 2.50 euros per dose of the vaccine developed by competitor AstraZeneca, Olivier Bogillot justified the difference with the fact that his company bet on the use of internal resources, such as “the researchers themselves and the factories”, while the Anglo-Swedish company “outsourced production” on a large scale.
At the same time, the president of Sanofi reiterated that “the French and Europeans will have the vaccine at the same time as American patients”.
According to data provided by the company, the United States will have about 100 million doses, Europeans will receive 300 million and Britain will be treated with 60 million doses.
Olivier Bogillot also praised the importance of collaboration with the British competitor, assuming that “it is not common” to join forces in an investigation of this dimension, but considered it “quite healthy in this war against the covid-19”.
