Zeman was injured on August 25 after deciding to go without a cane and without the help of security after watching the evening news on television and fell. He has been suffering from polyfunctional neuropathy for a long time, which is a neurological complication of diabetes that makes his feet feel less difficult.

The doctors of the military hospital operated on his arm that evening and released him after four days. Recovery should take six to eight weeks.

Due to injuries, Zeman canceled a visit to the South Moravian Region planned for the beginning of September. According to Ovčáček’s earlier statement, the President’s Office is planning working meetings in Lány this month. The castle will gradually inform about their dates. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) and Deputy Prime Minister Jan Hamáček (ČSSD), among others, want to meet with Zeman, and they also want to negotiate with him on the dismissal of the head of the Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) Petr Rafaj.
