In the last day, 86,432 new infections have been reported in India, bringing the total to 4,023,179. The number is even higher in the United States alone, where more than 6.3 million people have been infected with Covid-19, and in Brazil, where 4.1 million inhabitants.
While the government eased restrictions imposed by the pandemic, India has become the fastest-growing country with the new coronavirus infection, with more than 80,000 newly registered infections and thousands of Covid-19 deaths a day.
The number of people infected from three to four million in India rose in just 13 days, while in both the United States and Brazil it did so over a longer period of time.
In India, the pandemic is spreading particularly rapidly in rural areas with very weak healthcare infrastructure, but it is also spreading to major cities such as Mumbai and Delhi.
