According to the RIVM, seven new infections with the corona virus have been detected in the municipality of Groningen since Wednesday. This is evident from the latest figures from the institute, which were published on Thursday afternoon.
This brings the total number of infections in the municipality, according to the RIVM, to a total of 612 since the outbreak of the virus. The GGD Groningen spoke of a higher number on Wednesday, namely 622. In addition to Groningen, one infection was found in a resident in the municipality of Westerwolde.
RIVM again did not register deaths or hospital admissions from COVID-19 in the province. On May 1, hospitalization was last confirmed in the province. A deceased person was last reported on 21 August.
Wednesday reported the GGD Groningen that the number of infections in the province is in the process of decreasing. According to the service, 40 percent of the new infections could be traced back to a visit from another country. More than half occurred in people between the ages of 18 and 30.
