The project includes the integral requalification of the existing playground and the creation of a network of walking routes.

The sports and leisure park is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2022, with both areas open to the general public.

“This new sports center improves the existing offer and contributes to the requalification of a space that is currently inactive, supporting the communities of the parish and neighboring parishes, in addition to university sports”, he adds.

Pedestrian circulation circuits will also be created at the site to encourage the enjoyment of space and the development of leisure and recreation in the surroundings of the university campus.

The municipality will be responsible for the development of the rehabilitation and maintenance project for the soccer field with 55 by 90 meters, and for the construction of a bench, with 400 seats, and of the changing rooms.

The municipality will also be responsible for placing lighting, carrying out drainage and water supply works, improving and maintaining the network of pedestrian paths and improving and maintaining the various clearings and the five entrance doors to the park.

The project also includes an intervention on Rua Maria Delfina Gomes, the reformulation of sidewalks and the creation of new parking spaces.

The University of Minho will be responsible for the development of the global intervention architecture project (except for the football field, benches and changing rooms), for tree reforestation, maintenance of green spaces and installation of a video surveillance system in pedestrian circuits and clearings.
