KONTAN.CO.ID – PUTRAJAYA. Malaysia will begin terminating entry access for holders of long-term residence permits from India, Indonesia and the Philippines, starting September 7, 2020 due to the increase in positive cases of Covid-19.
Quoting The Edge Market, Thursday (3/9) Defense Minister Seri Ismail Yakob said this prohibition covers six categories of permanent residency permits, then permit holders My Second Home Programme (MM2H), expatriates, including professional visit pass holders (PVP) permits, and resident residence permits.
Prohibition is also given to Malaysian citizens who marry other citizens, also to their children. last to the students who want to return to Malaysia from their home country.
“Previously we have announced a number of bans and now considering the increase in cases, we are again tightening the ban on entry,” he said.
Ismail added that the Malaysian government is currently reviewing similar bans on other countries, especially countries that are about to enter the winter season which has also experienced an increase in positive cases of Covid-19.

However, the ban may not apply to Malaysian citizens who are currently in another country returning to Malaysia. In this regard, Ismail asked the Ministry of Health to prepare a health protocol action plan to reduce the spread in Malaysia.
