Jakarta – Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, recently visited several LPG bases and Sub Pangkalan in the Kemanggisan area, Palmerah, West Jakarta, to assess the situation following recent policy changes regarding the sale of 3-kilogram LPG cylinders.
On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Dasco, accompanied by the leader of the House of Representatives Commission VI, Anggia Ermania, and other commission members, arrived at the location at 09:25 WIB. Thier primary objective was to review the impact of the new regulations on LPG sales and distribution.
Monitoring the Situation
Dasco and the commission leaders inspected Rizki Yulianto’s 3 kg LPG base. Dasco inquired about the sales at the base, noting that residents had been facing difficulties in obtaining LPG. The price of LPG at the base was reported to be Rp 16 thousand.
“This is now this father selling to retailers at rp. 16 thousand, meaning that the price takes it under Rp. 16 thousand,” Dasco said at the location.
The seller at the base, rizki, explained that initially, the base was crowded with residents eager to buy LPG. However, after President Prabowo Subianto issued instructions, the queues subsided considerably.
“Every day was crowded (before the directive),if now it is not. When the announcement of the President’s warung may be again, the concentration is already a break,” said Rizki.
visiting Sub Pangkalan
Following their inspection of Rizki’s base, Dasco and the commission members visited Sub Pangkalan, which consists of several grocery stalls. Unlike the earlier base, there were no queues of residents at the stalls that morning to buy gas.
Dasco also took the prospect to ask the sellers about the use of KTP (Identity Card) for purchasing LPG.The sellers confirmed that residents could buy LPG without showing their KTP.
“If you buy using an ID card now?” Dasco asked.

“No need,” answered the seller of the LPG Toko Hasan sub-base.
Policy Background
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources had decided to prohibit retailers from selling 3 kg LPG starting Saturday, February 1, 2025. This decision was communicated by Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, on Friday, January 31, 2025.
However, the implementation of this policy caused unease among the community, with many facing difficulties in obtaining the 3 kg gas. Long queues formed at various bases.
Presidential Intervention
President Prabowo Subianto intervened after only three days of the policy’s implementation. He ordered the minister of ESDM,Bahlil Lahadalia,to reactivate the sale of 3 kg LPG by retailers.
“There is a desire from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to curb prices in retailers so that they are not expensive in the community. But after communication with the President, the President has then instructed ESDM to reactivate the existing retailers to sell as usual,” said Deputy Chairman DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, in Jakarta, Tuesday (4/2).
