Health Secretariat Launches Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination Days for Pets in Cam Anganoy

Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination campaign Launches‍ in Cam Anganoy too Protect Public Health and‍ companion Animals

The Ministry of Health has announced a ⁤new initiative to‌ safeguard public health and⁣ ensure the well-being of companion animals through⁢ free ‍anti-rabies vaccination ‍days. The campaign, targeting dogs and ⁣cats older than ⁤three months, will take place at the Zoonosis Center in Cam Anganoy throughout february.

According to Ángela Ojeda, a university professional with ⁤the‌ Ministry of Health, “Attention will be provided throughout the month of February on Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from⁤ 2:30 to⁣ 5:30 in the afternoon.” Ojeda emphasized that animals⁤ must be in good health to⁤ receive‍ the vaccine, and female animals should not be ‌pregnant,in heat,or nursing infants.

This initiative builds on the success of last year’s efforts, which saw 65,200 dogs and cats immunized across the 12 communes and 17 districts of the ⁣municipality. ‌ Despite this achievement, Ojeda noted that “there are still animals that did not receive the vaccine, which is why these immunization ‌campaigns began⁢ again.”

To ensure thorough coverage, the Ministry⁢ of Health⁣ will also extend its efforts to the rural sector. Ojeda explained, “Days will be held in the rural sector, in order to cover the ⁤points where it was not⁢ yet vaccinated in⁤ the previous period.”

The Zoonosis Center ⁢plays a critical role in this campaign, offering free anti-rabies vaccination services. ‍However,Ojeda clarified that “the Zoonosis Center‌ does not offer veterinary consultation services or function as a ‌veterinary clinic.”

Rabies remains a notable public‍ health concern, and mass vaccination campaigns are essential for controlling its spread. Research shows that‌ mass dog vaccination campaigns covering 70% of the at-risk population can confer herd ⁢immunity‌ against rabies [[2]].
