New Outdoor Gym Opens at Wish Park in Hove, Offering Year-Round Fitness Opportunities
Brighton and Hove residents now have another reason to embrace an active lifestyle with the opening of a new ten-piece outdoor gym at Wish Park in Hove. This marks the third such facility to be introduced in the city’s parks over the past year, following similar installations at Preston Park and Victoria Recreation Ground.
The gym, which officially opened on Saturday, February 1, features an 8-foot calisthenic unit and other equipment designed to provide “a similar experience to working out in an indoor gym.” The facilities are available for use all year round, making it a versatile option for fitness enthusiasts.
The project was made possible through collaboration between the Friends of Wish Park group and council officers, who worked together to shape the gym’s design. Funding was secured through the Veolia Environmental trust Grant and developer contributions, as part of Brighton and Hove City Council’s ongoing play area renovation program.Councillor Alan Robins, cabinet member for sport and recreation, expressed his enthusiasm for the new facility. “Providing opportunities for our residents to stay active and improve their health is a huge priority for us,” he said. “Thus, I’m delighted to see another outdoor gym now up and running in one of our popular parks.”
Robins also extended his gratitude to the friends of Wish Park and the Kompan fitness trainers who attended the opening event, helping visitors make the most of the new equipment.
The gym’s launch is part of a broader effort to promote health and wellness in the community. With its accessible location and diverse range of equipment, it aims to cater to fitness enthusiasts of all levels.
