Shot over three days in May 2024, Without a Fixed Bench is more then a film—it’s a heartfelt cry for empathy. “I wanted this film to serve as a mirror,” Henry explains. “These men and women that we are looking at, who live on the fringes, have stories that resonate with all of us. They are our brothers,our parents,our colleagues,who fell into situations they have not chosen.”
The film follows three homeless individuals—Fred, Doug, and Rody—as they compete for a bench in a park. Their lives take an unexpected turn when they discover a lost phone during a demonstration. “This phone is a symbol,” Henry reflects. “It is an open door to their past, a link between them and the world they have left. But it is indeed also a tool to relearn how to see each other, to listen, to understand each other.”
Henry’s meticulous attention to detail shines through in the film’s close-ups, capturing every emotion and nuance. “The silences in this film speak as much as the dialogues,” he says.“The spectator had to feel their pain, their dignity, but also their moments of lightness.”
Currently in the final stages of post-production,Without a Fixed Bench is slated for its premiere in mid-February. The project is a collective effort, with Guadeloupe playing a pivotal role in its production. “I wanted this film to be also a collective adventure,” Henry shares. “Guadeloupe has played a key role in this production, and I am proud to be able to bring our culture to the international scene.”

Born in Bordeaux but deeply connected to the Antilles, he faced notable challenges early in life.“I grew up in a challenging environment,” he recalls. “I was beaten, humiliated, abandoned.
