Andreas Christensen Faces Another Injury Setback, Sidelined for Three Weeks
Barcelona’s Danish defender, Andreas Christensen, has been dealt another blow, this time with a muscle injury that will keep him out of action for approximately three weeks. According to a statement from FC barcelona’s medical services, the 28-year-old sustained the injury to his right soleus during training on Monday.
This latest setback comes just weeks after Christensen returned to full fitness following a prolonged absence due to Achilles tendon tendinopathy, which had sidelined him from August 2024 to mid-January 2025. His absence during that period had already forced Barcelona to make adjustments, including the temporary registration of Dani Olmo.
Christensen’s recent injury means he will miss several crucial matches, including the Champions League clash against Atalanta on January 29, and also La Liga fixtures against Alavés, Sevilla, and Rayo Vallecano. Additionally, he will be unavailable for the Copa del Rey encounter with Valencia on February 6.
The defender has not played a full match as May 26, 2024, when he featured for 45 minutes in Barcelona’s final league game of the season against Sevilla. Despite being included in recent matchday squads against Getafe and Valencia, as well as the Champions League comeback against Benfica, Christensen has yet to see any minutes under manager Hansi Flick.
