The head of X, Elon Musk, does not like it when he is commented negatively on other platforms: This time the richest man in the world and “right-hand man” of Donald Trump succeeded against Wikipedia, because on the page dedicated to him it becomes now referring with a special paragraph to the controversial gesture he made at Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony, which was considered by many to be a Nazi salute.
“Once old media propaganda is considered a ‘valid’ source by Wikipedia, of course it just becomes an extension of old media propaganda!”, Elon Musk wrote in his post on the ‘X’ he owns.
Since legacy media propaganda is considered a “valid” source by Wikipedia, it naturally simply becomes an extension of legacy media propaganda!

But Jimmy Wales, founder of the famous online encyclopedia, stressed that he would not be intimidated.
Since buying X, Elon Musk has allowed misinformation to spread through the platform while, according to his critics, he promotes far-right views, starting with those of supporters of the US president, with whom he maintains a close relationship.
For his part, Jimmy Wales declares himself an advocate of neutrality and crossed elements.
Wikipedia’s goal is to enable its authors to create content “clear, which will recognize existing differing views”despite “the rise of divisiveness, fanaticism, culture wars and all that”he explained in an interview with the Intelligencer in December.
The current controversy stems from Musk’s disturbing gesture at Trump’s inauguration, when he greeted the crowd by raising his right arm in a manner reminiscent of the Nazi salute.
Wikepedia added the “greeting” in a video
Since Wednesday the gesture, which has been the subject of comments in the US and around the world, has been added to Musk’s biography on Wikipedia, as well as to the page about the Nazi salute.
The page specifies that the gesture “considered by a number of observers to be a Nazi salute”but adds that the billionaire denied it.

That didn’t stop Musk from accusing Wikipedia of repeating itself “the propaganda” of traditional media, one of his favorite targets. He even asked his supporters to stop donating to Wikipedia.
“Wikepedia is not for sale”
“facts” and not propaganda, Wales replied to X. “Ilon not happy that Wikipedia is not for sale”he added, referring to the billionaire’s 2022 takeover of X for $44 billion. dollars.
Wikipedia is managed by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation and claims to be one of the last symbols of the idealism of the internet’s principles, as it gives a voice to internet users around the world.
“The decline in trust in journalism and politics is great, which in some cases translates into a feeling of anger, people feel lost,” Wales estimated in his interview.
But in the Wikipedia community “we continue to work, trying to be neutral and clear.”
