Maya Manolova Announces Departure from BSP-OL Ahead of 2025 Elections

nMaya Manolova, the leader of the political movement Stand Up.BG, has made a⁣ bold statement regarding her stance on ⁢the current political coalition in Bulgaria. In a recent interview on BNT’s program “The Day Begins wiht ⁤Georgi ⁤Ljubenov,”‌ manolova expressed her firm opposition to the coalition between the ‌ BSP-United Left and GERB, stating, “I have​ no place in such a government and there is no way I will end up in the offices with those against whom the people protested.”

Manolova, who has been ⁤a prominent figure in Bulgarian politics and previously served as the National Ombudsman of⁣ Bulgaria, emphasized her concerns about ‌the future of the left in the country. ⁢”I voted against the entry of‌ ‘BSP-United Left’⁤ into a coalition with GERB and I was extremely clear.My fear‍ is that this could be the beginning of the‍ end not only of the⁢ left unification, but of the left in Bulgaria,” she added. She ⁢described the situation as⁣ a “sweet death with a kiss and four ⁢ministries,” highlighting the potential risks for the ‍left-wing movement.

In response to these developments, Manolova announced that Stand Up.BG would hold a national​ forum to decide whether to leave the ‌BSP-OL coalition. She also outlined seven ‌key⁢ demands that‍ she believes⁤ should be included in any coalition agreement. These include commitments to fair‌ taxation, such as zero VAT on bread and flour, a tax-free minimum, taxation of excess profits⁢ of corporations, anti-monopoly legislation, and the restoration of the Monument to the Soviet Army.
