State of Mexico Intensifies Vaccination efforts Against Influenza and COVID-19
toluca, Méx.—The State of Mexico has made significant strides in its vaccination campaign against influenza and COVID-19, administering over 2.3 million doses sence the initiative began on October 15, 2024.The campaign,which will continue until March 28,2025,has been a collaborative effort led by the Ministry of Health,ensuring free and safe access to vaccines for all residents.
The Intensive Winter Vaccination Campaign, a pivotal phase of this effort, ran from November 4 to December 31, 2024.During this period, the cold network was mobilized, utilizing radio dialog equipment, public address systems, and a dedicated team of health professionals to reach communities across the state.
Secretary of Health Macarena Montoya Olvera highlighted the scale of the operation, stating, “for this intensive campaign, the vaccination brigades traveled simultaneously to 700 locations in the municipalities of the State of Mexico.” The initiative was supported by 2,294 Health Brigades and a team of 3,572 professionals, including Vaccinators, Primary Health Care Technicians (TAPS), and Health Caregivers.
The campaign’s success has been driven by its comprehensive approach, which includes house-to-house visits and the vaccination of all age groups. Montoya Olvera emphasized the importance of community participation, urging the Mexican population to take advantage of the free and safe vaccines. “Biologicals are safe and free,they save lives,strengthen the health of communities,and reduce complications of chronic and degenerative conditions,” she added.
