Pages from a North Korean soldier’s diary have been released by Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces, accusing the Russians of using North Korean soldiers sent to fight in the Russia-Ukraine war as “cannon fodder”.
Specifically on one page there is a description that they are used as “bait” for drones.
The page contains text and a pen drawing showing a soldier drawing the attention of a Ukrainian drone and two others shooting it down.
“When the decoy is stationary, the drone will stop and be shot down,” the soldier wrote on the page, according to a Wall Street Journal translation.
The diary, which Ukrainians say was discovered on December 21, allegedly belonged to a young soldier who died in a firefight. According to the same sources, the content has been confirmed by experts.

A day earlier Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that his forces had captured two North Korean soldiers there were related videos.
The US estimates that 12,000 North Korean soldiers have been sent to fight. About 4,000 of them have already been killed on the battlefield, according to Zelensky.
