After always keeping their rivals within range, Priftis’ men (Cheatham 24 with 8/10 from 3, Winston 18, Gombauld 17) failed to overtake at the buzzer with Winston. Olimpia thanks above all Mirotic (33 points with 15/16 from free throws) and Shields (23). Also worth mentioning are the 13 points each from Mannion and Leday.
Virtus sweeps Naples away, Trieste catches Reggio Emilia
Virtus for its part closes remaining -2 from the top thanks to the easy success (86-75) over Napoli (Pullen 17, Totè 15) by Belinelli (20 points), Grazulis (16) and Polonara (14). Trieste (Valentine 17, Candussi 12) takes advantage of Reggio’s defeat to reach sixth position thanks to the victory (80-75) over Pistoia for which 22 points each from Forrest and Kemp, who also finished with 9 rebounds, were not enough.
Venice conquers Cremona, Varese defeats Treviso
At the rear, Venezia conquers (78-86) Cremona (Willis 22, Davis 12) thanks to a super Kabengele (23 points and 7 rebounds), assisted by Ennis and Wiltjer (13 each). Varese moves away from the slums by defeating Treviso (92-89). Hands (21 points) and Alviti (17), who also scored 7 rebounds each, were on top, but Johnson (18) and Bradford (15) also did well. The Venetians didn’t need Bowman’s 18 points, Caroline’s 16 with 9 rebounds and Macura’s 14.
