Adamson’s New VGs Subwoofer: A Powerful Addition to the Vergence Group
Adamson Systems Engineering has launched the VGs, a high-powered subwoofer marking the second release in its innovative Vergence Group. building upon the success of the E-series E119 subwoofer, the VGs boasts a custom-designed, in-house manufactured 6kW Class-D amplifier with onboard DSP, promising a meaningful leap in low-frequency performance for demanding professional audio applications.
“VGs is the second product release in the Vergence Group. As such, this powered subwoofer is the perfect companion for our line-array speaker VGt,” explains adamson. This statement highlights the strategic placement of the VGs within Adamson’s product line, emphasizing its synergy with existing technology.
The integration extends beyond simple compatibility. “Like the VGt, the VGs is self-powered and has redundant and daisy-chainable AVB/Milan connectivity allowing the full rig to be controlled by Adamson’s software ArrayIntelligence,” Adamson notes. this seamless integration streamlines setup and control for large-scale sound systems.
Impressive specs and Features
Audio engineers will appreciate the VGs’ impressive specifications. “Our single 19-inch speaker delivers a whopping 139 dB Max SPL with a frequency range of 29Hz to 100Hz. The etherCON connectors provide passive continuity when powerless. The entire speaker also only weighs a mere 72.5 kg,” Adamson proudly states. The combination of power, clarity, and portability is a significant advantage in the professional audio world.
Adamson also caters to existing users. “Current owners of the E119 passive sub can easily upgrade their gear with the VGs upgrade Kit, lowering the threshold for current Adamson users to go fully powered and digitally connected with Array Intelligence,” the company adds. This upgrade path makes the transition to the latest technology more accessible.
Designed for the Live Entertainment Industry
The VGs is specifically engineered for the demands of live entertainment and rental markets. “VGs is lightweight, can be flown or stacked and its integrated rigging ensures efficient truck packing. It saves a ton of ground-stacked equipment such as amp racks and makes cabling more efficient and easier,” Adamson points out. These design choices directly address the logistical challenges faced by professionals in the field.
Availability and Future Appearances
The VGs and its upgrade kit are available for order now, with shipments expected in the first quarter of 2025. “The new subwoofer will be presented at NAMM Show, Integrated Systems Europe and Infocomm as well as regional demos around the globe this year,” Adamson confirms, indicating a strong commitment to showcasing the product to a wide audience.
