Forget Times Square; this year, southern California offers a unique way to celebrate the New Year. The iconic Pacific Wheel at Santa Monica Pier will illuminate the Pacific coastline with a spectacular display of new Year’s wishes, visible from sunset on December 31st and January 1st.
While the ocean itself won’t be bursting with fireworks, the massive solar-powered Ferris wheel will offer a breathtaking choice. rather of a traditional countdown, the Pacific Wheel will proudly display “Happy New Year” in an extraordinary sixteen languages, including Chinese and German, creating a truly global celebration.
“There are no fireworks — do keep that in mind — but if you stop by the pier to admire the enormous attraction, or check it out via its webcam, you’ll spy the best New Year’s wishes on the massive side of the ride,” says a spokesperson for Pacific Park.
