A wave of grief washed over a Thai community following a tragic shooting that claimed the lives of Sittipong Siriphan, 48, and Orachon Iadkham, 45, parents who were celebrating their ‌children’s birthdays. The incident, which occurred at ‍a ‍rice porridge restaurant,⁢ stemmed from an argument ⁢between ‌Akkaraphon phamjamnong, a 50-year-old former village ⁤health volunteer, ‌and a waiter. Phamjamnong, angered over a cleared table, opened fire, resulting in the deaths of the innocent couple. He afterward surrendered to authorities.

Amidst the devastation, a heartbreaking ⁣image ⁤emerged: a ⁤video of the couple’s six-year-old daughter performing the Manohra, a traditional ⁢Thai dance, in front‍ of her parents’⁤ coffins. The young​ girl’s aunt, Thanyawarat Jitmang, shared the video online with the caption: “Nong’s words Little Manohra dance has been shown to mom and dad. She’s ‍practicing dancing so she can ⁤dance on New Year’s Day⁣ and‌ Children’s Day for mom and dad⁣ to see. But Mom and Dad weren’t there to watch‍ me dance. #Shooting‍ at a rice porridge shop.”

On December 26, 2024, a joint cremation ceremony was⁣ held for Sittipong ⁣and Orachon ‍at ⁣Pa Bon Tam Temple in Phatthalung ⁤Province. The event was attended by Sabida Thaiseth,‍ Thailand’s Deputy Minister of Interior.‍ due to the temple having onyl one crematorium, relatives constructed ⁣a⁣ temporary cremation base using approximately 400 bricks ⁤to accommodate the simultaneous cremation of both parents.
