Gaza Conflict: Ceasefire Talks Falter Amidst Mutual Accusations

Despite the setbacks, Hamas insists it remains flexible and committed to serious negotiations. Netanyahu’s office confirmed that Israeli negotiators returned from Qatar after a week of intense talks, suggesting a continued commitment to resolving the hostage situation. The US, along with Arab mediators Qatar and Egypt, have intensified their efforts to broker a deal over the past two weeks.
Simultaneously occurring, the military pressure on Gaza continues unabated. According to medical sources, Israeli military strikes have resulted in at least 24 Palestinian deaths, including an attack on a school sheltering displaced families in Sheikh Radwan, a suburb of gaza City. The Israeli military claims its strikes targeted Hamas militants in Al-Furqan and Al-Mawasi, the latter being a designated humanitarian zone in Khan Younis.
The situation in northern Gaza is particularly dire.The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry reports that Israeli forces are besieging three hospitals, severely limiting their operational capacity.In one instance, Israeli forces ordered the evacuation of the Indonesian hospital, while officials at the nearby Kamal Adwan Hospital refused, citing the risk to patients. An Israeli security official stated, “Kamal Adwan is at the heart of the most complex fighting in Jabalia. We are being very careful.”
