according to sources who have recently spoken with members of the Assad family, “Asma is dying. She [savas stāvokļa dēļ] can’t be in the same room with anyone else,” one source revealed. Another source, who communicated with the family in Moscow, painted a grim picture, stating, ”in recent weeks, their [Asmas al asadas] success can be predicted as follows – 50 against 50.”
The strict isolation is reportedly a precaution to prevent infection. For a period, her father, fawass al-Arkhas,provided care in Moscow.Sources describe him as “devastated” by the situation.
The 49-year-old British-Syrian citizen is believed to have sought medical treatment in Moscow shortly before December 8th,a date marked by meaningful upheaval in Syria. This timing raises questions about the potential impact of the political climate on her health journey.
In May 2024, the Syrian president’s office publicly announced that Asma al-Assad had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). AML is a severe form of cancer affecting the blood-forming system, originating in the bone marrow.
This is not Asma al-Assad’s first battle with cancer. She successfully overcame breast cancer in 2019. However, the current diagnosis presents a far more critical challenge.
