Serene Industries Unveils the icebreaker: A $1,500 Keyboard Redefining Luxury
Luxury keyboard manufacturer Serene Industries has launched its latest creation, the Icebreaker—a premium keyboard crafted from a single block of CNC-machined aluminum. Pre-orders are now open, with prices starting at a hefty $1,500 for the wired version.
The wireless Bluetooth model and the wired version featuring a magnetic hall effect switch command a slightly higher price tag of $1,600. This puts the Icebreaker in the same price range as a new 14-inch MacBook Pro M4, highlighting its position as a high-end peripheral.
The icebreaker boasts a range of impressive features. Its swappable keys and customizable RGB lighting allow for personalized aesthetics. Available in clear and black, the keyboard offers a sleek, modern look. While Serene Industries hasn’t announced a shipping date, production is slated to begin after the pre-order period closes on January 28, 2025.
Measuring approximately 17.7 x 1.7 x 0.9 inches (450 x 44 x 24mm) in its 65 percent layout, the Icebreaker’s weight remains undisclosed. However, its feature set is anything but lightweight. It includes an integrated, configurable EC11 rotary dial, dual silicon dampening for reduced noise and vibration, and a robust 4,000 mAh battery promising roughly three months of use.
Further enhancing its premium appeal are micro-perforations on each keycap, allowing the LED backlighting to shine through brilliantly.The keyboard also features 1/4-20 inch mounting points—three on the USB-C port and four on the base—designed for attaching accessories such as tripod mounts or monitor arms.
According to Serene Industries founder Denis Agarkov, the Icebreaker’s design was partly inspired by the iconic Flatiron Building in New York City. “When the Icebreaker was first announced in January 2024,I wanted to create a keyboard that went against the prevailing trends and adopted a more distinctive and challenging design,” Agarkov stated.
