Winter Storm Warning Issued for Parts of Eastern Europe
A significant winter storm is expected to impact parts of Eastern Europe on December 25th, prompting weather alerts from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH).
The NIMH has issued an orange alert—its second-highest warning level—for heavy snow and rain in nine regions: Vratsa, Gabrovo, Lovech, Montana, Pleven, Ruse, Smolyan, Sofia region, and Targovishte. Thes areas should brace for potentially disruptive weather conditions.
A less severe, yellow alert, is in effect for sixteen additional districts, warning of significant rain and snow. Eastern regions are also under a yellow alert for high winds and rain.
According to the NIMH forecast, the next 24 hours will see a dramatic shift in weather patterns. A strong north-northeast wind will usher in a cold air mass, leading to widespread cloud cover and precipitation.
