They are being shown today, and people are still enjoying them—works that I do not think can be done today. We see the level of the writng, the level of the scenario, and the works today do not rise to one millionth of what Bashir El-Deek used to write.”
She highlighted the depth and societal relevance of El-Deek’s screenplays, citing films like “Mission in Tel Aviv,” “The Death Network,” and “Terrorism” as examples of his groundbreaking work.”The works had value and dealt with very vital societal issues,” El-Gendy explained.”There was depth in the writing, and the films were all content and films that live with us until now… he was the first to address the subject of terrorism, and it was a frightening phenomenon, and no one dared to do it, and he was daring, and I am with him. We are doing this work, and there are many political films, and patriotic films like ‘Hikmat Fahmy,’ ‘A Woman Who Shook the throne of Egypt,’ ‘The Lost,’ and all of them are landmarks.”
Beyond the professional realm, El-Gendy emphasized the profound personal connection she shared with El-Deek. “On the human level, I had a strong relationship with him, and our relationship was not just a writer and an artist at all,” she revealed. “there was something like an artistic marriage between us, and we would discuss all topics, events and all scenes, and I understood his vision and he understood mine, and we consulted and took each other’s opinions and trusted each other’s opinions. I was very confident in his opinion, because he was very close to my heart and he was very confident in my opinion, and he used to tell me that he was one of the few artists who understood me. I have worked with a lot of people without mentioning names, who do not understand a scenario, but you understand a scenario. that is why I like your comments on any work and any scene, and you tell me notes that…”
