Indigenous-led Roadblocks Cripple access to Valledupar, Colombia

Major roadways ​leading ⁢to Valledupar, ​colombia, are currently blocked by members of the Indigenous ‍Confederation of Tayrona, in​ a protest‍ demanding immediate action from the national‍ government ​regarding the concerns of the Arhuaco people. The closures, impacting key transportation routes, began ⁣after a prolonged wait for a⁢ response to⁣ their requests.

The closures are impacting several key access points, causing critically important traffic disruptions. According‌ to reports, blockades are in place at the El Salguero bridge on the ⁢La Paz-Valledupar ⁢route, the Bosconia exit near the tire factory, and the Hurtado Bridge. The indigenous Confederation of Tayrona announced the closures via social media.

The Confederation⁤ stated,⁢ “We want promises from the National Government for ⁣the Arhuaco People, who‌ continue the movement that has ​not stopped‌ being peaceful.”

  • Via Valledupar – La Paz km 6+500: Approximately 210⁤ vehicles⁤ are currently affected.
