In a show of force, “projecting” an image of total victory in Ukraine and substantial dominance in the context of competition with the West, the Russian president proceeded Vladimir Putin at the annual press conference he gave.
According to the president of Russia, now the Russian forces across the front line in Ukraine they advance and capture new territories day by day thus bringing his government closer to victory and achieving the goals of the “special military operation”. As he pointed out: “I must say that the situation at the front is changing dramatically. There is movement across the front line every day. We are moving towards achieving our primary objectives, which we outlined at the beginning of the special military operation. Everyone is fighting, literally heroically and fighting right now.”
As for his Russian district Kurskwhere the Ukrainian forces have managed to keep under their control an area after a rapid advance that took place months ago and where fierce battles have recently been raging with the participation of North Korean soldiers, the Russian president emphasized that he is sure that soon the Kursk will be liberated. Despite the fact that he refrained from giving a specific time horizon when this will be done, he was clear about the part of his certainty about the outcome of the operations.
Going a step further in regards to demonstration of military and political power of Russia, Vladimir Putin also addressed one “invitation”- challenge towards her West and specifically to the USA. Wanting to put an end to various expert assessments that the recently unveiled Russian Oresnik hypersonic missile with a “test” strike on Ukrainecannot penetrate the missile defenses of NATO countries, Putin said: “There is no chance of Oreshnik being brought down. If they want we can do an experiment. Pick a target, let’s say in Kiev, concentrate their defense systems there and see if they can stop Oreshnik. We are ready for such a thing. Are they?’
As for her part economy.where Western media generally argue that Russia is suffering because of sanctions and war, Vladimir Putin argued that the Russian economy is showing signs of stability, but there is a slight concern about inflation. According to him, the growth for this year is expected to reach 4% this year, but the inflationary pressure is a “bell” for the future. Regarding this, he taught the Central Bank of Russia a lesson, arguing that there are not a few who believe that he could have used other tools besides interest rates. It is noted that announcements from the Central Bank on interest rate increases are expected. Responding to reports about what is happening in the daily lives of Russians, Putin underlined: “Meat consumption in Russia has doubled to around 80kg per person, compared to 42kg worldwide, while Russia’s unemployment rate is at a record low of 2.3%.”
