Yamaha’s Aerox Alpha: Sporty Style Meets Smart Tech
Yamaha motor has launched its latest scooter, the Aerox Alpha, in Jakarta, Indonesia. The stylish new ride boasts a starting price of IDR 29.9 million (approximately $1,950 USD based on current exchange rates) in Jakarta.However, a price increase is expected for the Aerox Alpha outside of jakarta beginning january 5, 2025, due to the implementation of a new optional tax policy.
Dyonisius Beti, President Director & CEO of PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM), highlighted the scooter’s key features at the launch event: “The Aerox Alpha that we launched today brings lots of upgrades in various lines. As the name suggests, which carries the term and symbol ‘alpha’, this scooter not only offers design, but also features that emotionally reflect the character of Alpha (leader). And we also see the Youngster character, which is Brave, Aggressive, Dynamic, Anti-Mainstream, Stand Out and Speed, which we put into the concept of developing this motorbike.”
Drawing inspiration from Yamaha’s R-series DNA and its “Ride The REVolution” ideology, the Aerox Alpha blends sporty aesthetics with cutting-edge technology. The scooter’s design is aimed at appealing to younger riders, reflecting a desire for speed, individuality, and a dynamic riding experience.
Similar to the Nmax Turbo, the top-tier Aerox Alpha model features Yamaha’s Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (YECVT), providing a responsive and powerful acceleration. Furthermore, connectivity is enhanced through the Y-Connect app,allowing riders to access various information and entertainment features directly from their scooter.
The Aerox Alpha also boasts a TFT Infotainment Display, seamlessly integrated with the Y-connect app. this advanced display provides riders with real-time information, including odometer readings, riding modes, weather updates, message and call notifications, music controls, and turn-by-turn navigation powered by Google Maps. this level of integration sets the Aerox Alpha apart in the competitive scooter market.
A significant upgrade across all Aerox Alpha models is the inclusion of disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels, enhancing safety and braking performance. This improvement addresses a previous limitation in earlier models.

Yamaha Unveils the Aerox Alpha: A Sport Scooter with Enhanced Performance
Yamaha has launched its latest sport scooter, the Aerox Alpha, featuring significant upgrades over its predecessor. Addressing a common complaint among previous Aerox owners, the new model boasts a disc braking system, including an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) on select models.This enhancement considerably improves braking performance and safety.
Under the hood, the Aerox Alpha packs a punch. It’s powered by a next-generation 155cc Blue Core VVA engine with Yamaha Electric CVT (YECVT) technology, delivering a “Turbo” driving experience reminiscent of the Nmax. This engine generates a maximum power output of 15.1 hp at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 14.2 Nm at 6,500 rpm.
The Aerox Alpha is available in four variants: Standard, Cybercity, Turbo, and Turbo Ultimate. Pricing in Jakarta, where prices are free from additional taxes, starts at IDR 29,900,000 for the standard model, rising to IDR 41,730,000 for the top-of-the-line Turbo Ultimate variant. However, regional pricing may vary.
“One of the happy news is that the Jakarta area is not affected by options,” explained rifki Maulana, Public Relations Manager, YRA & Community at PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM), during the launch event.”As for the price of the Aerox Alpha in othre regions, I can’t answer yet, because each region’s percentage depends on them. How the price increases regionally is decided by them.”
