But Rite expressed his displeasure at the growing speculation in NATO capitals about when such talks might begin and whether European peacekeepers might be involved.
Rite said it was in the interests of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to discuss these issues publicly.
Rite said she wants to discuss everything related to Ukraine with Zelensky, as well as discuss ways to put Ukraine in a strong position the day Zelensky decides to start talks with Russia to end the war.
Rit is also scheduled to meet with the leaders of several European countries. It will focus on what can be done to get more air defenses and other weapons into Ukraine.
They will be joined by European Union (EU) officials to look for ways to further support Ukraine’s war-torn economy.
Rite said that the terms of any peace talks should be determined by Ukraine, Russia and others at the negotiating table.
“If we start discussing among ourselves now what an agreement might look like, it will be good for the Russians,” he added.
Zelensky announced on the Telegram platform that he will meet with the leaders of the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland and representatives of Great Britain. It is planned that the President of Ukraine will also participate in the EU summit on Thursday.
“Europe needs a strong and united position to ensure lasting peace. “Every important issue that affects Europe – and the end of Russia’s war against Ukraine is undoubtedly one of them – requires the coordinated and effective work of European countries,” said Zelensky.

Rita: Of course, everyone desires a swift resolution to this conflict. However, it’s essential that these discussions be conducted in a structured and meaningful manner, not through speculation and media commentary. My primary focus is to ensure Ukraine is in the strongest possible position when they decide to engage in formal negotiations.
