In an official statement, the club confirmed Alexandersson’s departure and stated that they “will endeavor to find a successor as quickly as possible.” According to reports in the Flemish press, the search for a new coach might potentially be shorter than expected.
Yves Vanderhaeghe: A Potential Return to Kortrijk?
Reports suggest that the club is already in advanced negotiations with experienced Belgian coach Yves Vanderhaeghe. A source close to the club indicated that a return for the 54-year-old manager is “close.” This would mark a meaningful advancement for Kortrijk, given Vanderhaeghe’s history with the club.
vanderhaeghe’s coaching career includes a stint as an assistant coach at KV Kortrijk before taking the reins as head coach. He’s also managed other prominent Belgian clubs, including Oostende and Gent, and has international experience. After a period away from the game, he’s been without a club since November 2023.
The situation mirrors similar coaching changes seen in other leagues worldwide, highlighting the pressure on managers to deliver results quickly. The appointment of Vanderhaeghe, if confirmed, could signal a shift in strategy for Kortrijk as they aim to climb the Pro League table and avoid relegation.
