Meta‘s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Get a Major AI Upgrade
Meta Platforms announced a important upgrade to its Ray-Ban smart glasses, integrating cutting-edge artificial intelligence features that promise to revolutionize the user experience. The update, available now to early access programme members, includes real-time language translation and AI-powered video capabilities.
The new software,version 11,introduces an AI video assistant that allows users to process what they see and receive instant answers.This functionality is a game-changer, particularly for navigating unfamiliar environments or quickly accessing details.
Perhaps the most impressive addition is the real-time language translation feature. “When you talk to someone who speaks one of these three languages, you hear what they say in English through the speakers of the glasses or as a transcription on your phone, and vice versa,” explains Meta in a recent blog post. Currently, the glasses support translation between English and Spanish, French, or Italian.
Adding to the functionality, Meta has integrated Shazam, the popular song identification app, making it easier then ever to identify tunes on the go. This feature is initially launching in the United States and Canada.
This update builds upon previous AI features announced at Meta’s Connect conference in September, which included tools for setting reminders and the ability to scan QR codes and phone numbers using voice commands.
