Mendes Breaks Silence: Ronaldo’s Legacy and the future of Football Stars
Even after parting ways with Cristiano Ronaldo, super-agent Jorge Mendes remains a vocal admirer of the Al Nassr striker. In a recent interview, Mendes offered high praise for Ronaldo’s enduring impact on the sport, while also sharing his perspectives on several rising stars.
Regarding ronaldo, Mendes stated, “Cristiano continues to score goals after goals, breaking records after records and enjoying what he does so well. It’s not the first time I’ve said this, nor will it be the last: for me, he will always be the best player of all time in the history of football.”
mendes’ comments weren’t solely focused on Ronaldo’s past achievements. He also highlighted the importance of Ronaldo’s example for young players, specifically mentioning Barcelona’s rising star, Lamine Yamal. “I don’t like to make comparisons, but without a doubt Cristiano is a good example to be followed, not only for Lamine, but for all young people. If you follow his example on and off the field, you will certainly be at the top of world football in the next 20 years. Lamine is an incredibly talented player and is only 17 years old. If he doesn’t get distracted and stays focused at all times, I have there’s no doubt whatsoever he will win the ballon d’Or, not once, but several times,” Mendes emphasized.
The interview also touched upon other players. Mendes discussed the potential transfer of Benfica’s António Silva to Juventus, stating, “Juventus remains one of the best clubs in Europe, but the future belongs to God. (…) He is a young player, with a lot of quality, world class. He has already proven his worth and that is why, even last year, some of the best European clubs wanted to sign him.”
Mendes also lauded the talent of Francisco Conceição, a winger he believes could “play for any team in the world.” He added,”And it’s much more than you think. Francisco is very happy to play for Juventus, which has always been his desire. he is very happy.”
Mendes offered his assessment of Sérgio Conceição’s coaching prospects: “It’s a matter of time, because he is a phenomenal coach. He is a coach destined to be in any team in the world, just as he is a serious candidate to win the Champions League with a big club or European and World Cups with national teams.”
Mendes’ insights provide a interesting glimpse into the world of elite football, highlighting both the enduring legacy of a global icon and the promising futures of several young talents poised to shape the sport’s next chapter.
mendes Speaks: Ronaldo’s Legacy and the Future of Football
By: Emily Carter, Senior Editor, world-today-news.com
Today we’re joined by Miguel Sanchez, a long-time football journalist and expert specialized in player transfers and agent dynamics. Miguel, thanks so much for joining us today.
Miguel Sanchez:
It’s my pleasure, Emily. Always happy to discuss the stunning game.
Emily: Let’s dive right in. Jorge Mendes recently gave a wide-ranging interview where he spoke highly of Cristiano Ronaldo even after their professional separation. What do you make of Mendes’ comments, notably his statement that Ronaldo is the “best player of all time”?
Miguel:
It’s no surprise that Mendes is still a strong advocate for Ronaldo. They had a remarkable partnership, and Mendes clearly believes deeply in Cristiano’s abilities. While the “best of all time” debate is always subjective and fiery, Mendes’ perspective is understandable given Ronaldo’s consistent goal-scoring records and global impact on the sport. Even at this later stage in his career, Ronaldo’s dedication and achievement are remarkable.
Emily:
Mendes also highlighted Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal as a player who could benefit from following Ronaldo’s example. Do you see similarities between these two players, and do you think Yamal has the potential to reach Ronaldo’s heights?
Miguel:
It’s an engaging comparison. Yamal is undeniably a prodigious talent and shares Ronaldo’s attacking flair and ambition. What sets ronaldo apart, though, is that relentless drive and determination that fueled his success for so long. Whether Yamal can match that remains to be seen, but he certainly has the raw talent and mendes’ guidance to carve out a very triumphant career for himself.
Emily:
Beyond Ronaldo and Yamal, Mendes spoke about several other young players, including António Silva and Francisco Conceição. what are your thoughts on these prospects?
Miguel:
Silva is a rock-solid defender with immense potential. Juventus have a history of nurturing young talent, so that could be a great move for him. Conceição is another exciting prospect. He’s a technically gifted winger with a bright future. Mendes clearly believes in both these players and I think we’ll be hearing a lot more about them in the coming years.
Emily:
Mendes also expressed strong confidence in Sérgio Conceição’s coaching abilities. Do you agree with his assessment?
miguel:
Sérgio Conceição has done an outstanding job, particularly with porto. He’s a tactically astute coach who gets the best out of his players. If he can continue his success, there’s no doubt he’ll attract interest from bigger clubs. The Champions League could be a natural next step for him.
Emily:
Miguel, its been a pleasure getting your expert insights. Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us.
Miguel:
You’re very welcome. it was my pleasure.
