Filipino Scholars Shine in Teacher Licensure Exam
Two Filipino scholars have achieved remarkable success in the September 2024 Professional Teachers Licensure examination, placing among the top ten scorers. Their accomplishment underscores the positive impact of science and technology scholarships on educational attainment and future leadership in the Philippines.
Shandie Carbonell and Patricia Balico, both graduates of Mariano Marcos state University’s College of Education in Laoag City, secured 8th and 9th place respectively.Carbonell,a DOST merit scholar,earned a score of 93 percent,while balico,a recipient of a scholarship under Republic Act No. 7687 (the Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994),achieved a score of 92.80 percent.
DOST ilocos Norte Director Benjamin Mercado Jr. expressed his pride, stating, “Your remarkable achievement is a testament to your hard work, determination and dedication to your academic pursuits. Balico, a magna cum laude graduate, shared her journey on Facebook. Initially intending to pursue pre-law,she shifted to education,inspired by a desire to mentor others. “The decision to pursue education has brought me fulfillment and a sense of purpose I never expected,” she shared.
