At least 65 people were killed and hundreds injured in attacks launched by paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Omdurman suburb of the Sudanese capital, according to the governor of Khartoum state.
A shell hit a passenger bus and “killed all on board,” a total of 22 people, Ahmed Othman Hamza said, condemning the “massacre” by a “terrorist militia,” referring to DTY paramilitaries.
Sudan has been plunged into chaos since the war that broke out in April 2023 between forces loyal to army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and DTY paramilitaries under Mohamed Hamdan Daghlo, once the second in command of the military junta. The armed conflict has caused tens of thousands of deaths and a major humanitarian crisis, with the number of displaced people exceeding 11 million, according to UN figures.
