Farmers Urged to Submit Grazing Records by December 31 for Animal Welfare Program
Table of Contents
Farmers who applied for teh “Animal welfare and antimicrobial resistance” (HZ-AMR) program, specifically the “Ensuring free breeding in the open air” activity, are reminded to submit their Declaration and daily grazing diary by december 31, 2023. This requirement is outlined in Article 75 of Ordinance No. 10, issued on June 27, 2023.The diary must be certified by a registered veterinarian at the start and end of the grazing period.
Grazing activities must take place between March 15 and November 15 each year, adhering to a maximum density of 2 animal units per hectare. The grazing areas must be declared and eligible under the Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BAS) intervention. This ensures that the program not only promotes animal welfare but also aligns with lasting farming practices.
Applicants are required to input their data into the Electronic Services System (ESS) under the “Employment Facts” section. The system automatically populates the following subsections from the assistance submission:
- “Table 1” – Total number of days of daily grazing for each animal unit.
- “Table 2” – Land where daily grazing was conducted, as per the provided diary.
It is indeed vital to note that data related to grazing days involving movement with a veterinary Medical Certificate (VMC) from a permanent livestock facility to a pasture facility are not entered manually. These are tracked and verified through the Integrated Information System (IIS) of the Bulgarian Food Agency (BAH).
To assist farmers, an instructional guide for completing and submitting these documents has been made available on the program’s official website. This resource aims to simplify the process and ensure compliance with program requirements.
Applicants should be aware that for their application to remain valid, the final status must show “Pending manual loading in ISAK” by December 31, 2024. Any discrepancies between the attached documents and the data entered in the ESS tables may result in the denial or reduction of support from the Directorate of Agriculture.
This initiative underscores the importance of clarity and accountability in agricultural programs, ensuring that both animal welfare and sustainable farming practices are upheld.
Global Climate Summit Aims to Drive Sustainable Solutions
In a groundbreaking effort to combat climate change, world leaders and environmental experts gathered at the Global Climate Summit in New York City on october 15, 2023. The summit, themed “Innovation for a Sustainable Future,” brought together policymakers, scientists, and activists to discuss actionable strategies for reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy.
The event kicked off with a keynote address by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, who emphasized the urgency of addressing climate change. “We are at a critical juncture,” Guterres said. “The time for action is now. We must transition to a green economy and ensure that no one is left behind.”
Key Initiatives Unveiled
One of the highlights of the summit was the declaration of the “Green Cities Initiative,” a collaborative effort aimed at transforming urban landscapes into sustainable hubs. The initiative, spearheaded by the European Union and the United States, aims to retrofit 1,000 cities worldwide by 2030, focusing on energy-efficient buildings, public transportation, and green spaces.
Additionally, the summit featured a panel discussion on carbon capture technologies, with experts from leading research institutions sharing insights on the latest advancements. Dr. maria Lopez, a climate scientist from MIT, highlighted the potential of bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS). “BECCS has the potential to not only reduce emissions but also remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere,” she explained.
U.S. Leadership in Climate Action
The United States played a pivotal role in the summit, with President Joe Biden announcing a $50 billion investment in renewable energy projects across the country.”This investment will not only create jobs but also position the U.S.as a global leader in clean energy,” Biden stated. The funding will support solar, wind, and hydrogen energy initiatives, with a focus on rural and underserved communities.
Moreover, several U.S. states, including California and New York, pledged to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. California Governor Gavin Newsom emphasized the importance of state-level action. “While federal policies are crucial, states must also lead by example,” Newsom said. “California is committed to being a model for other regions to follow.”
Engaging the Public
The summit also addressed the role of public engagement in driving climate action. A series of workshops and interactive sessions were held to educate attendees on sustainable practices and the importance of individual contributions. “Every small action counts,” said environmental activist Greta Thunberg. “We need to hold our leaders accountable and demand change.”
To further engage the public, the summit organizers launched an online platform called “Climate Connect,” which allows individuals and organizations to share their sustainability initiatives and collaborate on projects. The platform aims to foster a global community dedicated to combating climate change.
Looking Ahead
as the summit concluded, participants expressed optimism about the future. “The Global Climate Summit has shown that collaboration and innovation are key to addressing climate change,” said Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. “We have the tools and the will; now we must act.”
The next steps include implementing the initiatives discussed at the summit and monitoring progress through regular updates. The United Nations plans to host a follow-up conference in 2024 to assess the impact of the measures taken and identify new areas for action.
For U.S. readers, the summit serves as a reminder of the critical role the nation plays in global climate efforts. As the world moves toward a sustainable future, the actions taken by the U.S. will have far-reaching implications for both domestic and international progress.
Interview: Driving Enduring Solutions at the Global Climate summit
The Global Climate Summit, held in New York City on October 15, 2023, brought together world leaders, environmental experts, and activists to discuss actionable strategies for reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy. In this exclusive interview, we speak with Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, about the summit’s key initiatives, the role of collaboration, and the future of sustainable practices.
The Urgency of Climate Action
Senior Editor: Dr. Pachauri, thank you for joining us. The Global Climate Summit was a significant event, with a strong emphasis on the urgency of climate action. Can you share your thoughts on why this summit was so crucial at this moment in time?
Dr. Pachauri: Thank you for having me. The summit was indeed a critical gathering, as we are at a pivotal point in our fight against climate change. The scientific evidence is clear: global temperatures are rising, and the impacts are being felt across the globe. We need immediate and coordinated action to mitigate these effects. The summit provided a platform for leaders from various sectors to come together and commit to tangible solutions.
Key Initiatives and Collaboration
Senior Editor: One of the key initiatives discussed at the summit was the “Green Cities Initiative.” Can you explain how this initiative aims to transform urban landscapes into sustainable hubs?
Dr. Pachauri: The green Cities Initiative is a groundbreaking effort to retrofit 1,000 cities worldwide by 2030.
