Ioannina Municipality Celebrates Success of “Housing and ‍work​ for the Homeless” Program

The Municipality of Ioannina, in collaboration with the Society for⁤ Social Research and ⁣Intervention⁢ (EPEP), has successfully completed the ⁣”Housing⁣ and Work Reintegration for Homeless People” project, a key initiative‍ under the Ministry⁤ of Labor and ‍Social Affairs’ broader “Housing and⁤ Work for‌ the Homeless” program. The two-year initiative, spanning 2022 to 2024,⁣ has made ⁤significant strides‌ in ⁤providing safe housing and ⁣employment opportunities for vulnerable individuals in ⁢the region.

A Collaborative Effort for Community Impact

Last Monday, the⁣ city of Ioannina hosted a presentation of the ‌programS results at the Epirus⁤ Region Conference Center. The‍ event⁤ brought together representatives ⁢from the ⁤Ministry of Social and Family Cohesion,the Administrative Authority (OPECA),the Municipality⁢ of ​Ioannina,EPEP,the Diocese of Ioannina,and several program beneficiaries. The gathering‍ highlighted the collective⁣ effort required to address homelessness and reintegrate individuals into ‍stable living and⁢ working conditions.

The program achieved a remarkable 100% success rate in ​providing​ safe housing for 20 households,⁤ totaling 41 individuals, ⁤including 11 children, over a ⁤24-month⁢ period.‍ Additionally, 8 adults were successfully integrated into the labor market through subsidies to private ⁢businesses in ioannina, surpassing⁢ the program’s‍ initial objectives.

Empowering Individuals Through Employment and Training

Beyond housing, the program ⁢also focused on empowering participants ​through employment and skill-building⁢ opportunities. Ten individuals secured work through government programs (DYPA) or ⁤self-reliant ventures, supported by the psychosocial assistance ⁤provided by the initiative. Moreover,five beneficiaries received subsidies for‌ training in various vocational skills,achieving⁤ a 100% success rate in this area as well.
