Dr. Emma van der Meer: Thank you for the question. Stroke survivors often deal with cognitive challenges, such as memory issues and difficulty with language, as well as physical limitations. The key to recovery is a combination of medical intervention, rehabilitation, and, most importantly, a strong support system. Mariska’s determination and willingness to step out of her comfort zone are excellent examples of how mindset plays a crucial role in recovery.

mariska Bauer: It was a huge challenge for me. Performing on stage was something I never thought I’d do,especially after my stroke. But I realized that life is too short to hold back. My stroke made me think, “Why not me?” So, I decided to go for it. It was exhilarating and terrifying simultaneously occurring, but I’m so glad I did it. It’s a reminder that we can achieve more than we think, even after facing adversity.
