**World Today News:** Olivier, welcome! Your arrival at the University of Florida has sent shockwaves through the collage basketball world. you’re quickly becoming a household name, not just in Gainesville, but across the nation. How does it feel to be embraced so warmly by the Gator Nation?
**Olivier Rioux:** (Smiling) It’s incredible! Honestly, I wasn’t expecting this level of enthusiasm when I first stepped onto campus. The fans’ energy is contagious, adn it pushes me to perform my best every time I step onto the court.
**WTN:** You’ve already become a fan favorite, and even teammates have commented on your infectious enthusiasm. What drives that passion for the game?
**OR:** Basketball has always been my escape, my sanctuary. I started playing at a very young age, and it’s been a constant in my life. I’m grateful for the opportunity to play the sport I love at this level, and I never want to take it for granted. That passion, I think, shows through in my play and my interactions with the fans.
**WTN:** Your journey to the Gators is inspiring. Can you tell us a little about the sacrifices and hard work that led to this moment?
**OR:**
My family played a huge role. My father always believed in me, and he instilled in me the importance of dedication and hard work.My parents made sure I had every opportunity to develop my skills, even when it meant making tough choices and sacrifices. We worked hard together, and I’m eternally grateful for their support.
**WTN:** Your father, who is clearly beaming with pride, said, “We worked hard so that he would be proud to be great.” That’s powerful. What does it mean to you to make your family proud?
**OR:** It means everything.
Seeing the joy in their eyes when I achieve something on the court is the greatest reward. Their belief in me gives me the confidence to strive for greatness and continue pushing my limits.
**WTN:** The Gators basketball program is known for its passionate fanbase and intense atmosphere. How have you adjusted to playing in front of such a large and dedicated crowd?
**OR:** At first, it was overwhelming. The energy in the O’Connell Center is electric, and it can be quite intimidating. But I’ve learned to embrace the pressure. It actually motivates me to play even harder and give my all for the team and the fans.
**WTN:** As a freshman,what are your goals for the season,both individually and collectively?
**OR:** My main focus is to contribute to the team’s success. I want to learn from our experienced players, improve my game, and help the Gators win as many games as possible. individually, I aim to be the best version of myself both on and off the court.
