Conservative Party of Quebec (PCQ) leader Éric Duhaime’s plans to seek a seat in the National Assembly have been put on hold following a recent health issue. Duhaime, who currently lacks a seat in the legislature, had announced his intention to connect wiht PCQ members in the Arthabaska riding to gauge support for a potential candidacy.
The PCQ leader had aimed to secure a seat in the Center-du-Québec constituency before the holiday season. However, his health setback will likely necessitate a pause in his campaign activities.
An outpouring of support for Duhaime has emerged from across the Quebec political spectrum. “Speed recovery, Eric. Take care of yourself to get back in shape,” wrote Premier François Legault on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Similar sentiments were expressed by prominent figures including Marc Tanguay, interim leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, Ruba Ghazal, co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire, and Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, leader of the Parti Québécois.
Duhaime’s health status and the timeline for his return to campaigning remain unclear.
