The educational program focused on behavioral changes that can considerably reduce the risk of contracting the virus.Students were advised to abstain from sexual activity, avoid sharing personal items like toothbrushes and razors, and steer clear of narcotics and illegal drugs.
“It’s crucial for teenagers to receive accurate sex education from thier parents and trusted sources,” Barwono added. “Guidance both at home and in the community, along with age-appropriate media consumption, plays a vital role in shaping healthy choices.”
He also highlighted the importance of seeking information about HIV/AIDS and engaging in open discussions.”Staying active in positive activities is another key factor in promoting well-being and reducing risk,” Barwono advised.
The Bekasi Regency government has made significant strides in providing accessible healthcare for those living with HIV/AIDS. ”We have 14 community health centers, and also specialized services at RSUD Cibitung and RSUD Cabangbungin,” Barwono explained. “Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to quality care and treatment.”
This year’s World AIDS Day theme, “Equal Rights for All, together We Can,” underscores the global commitment to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2030. In Bekasi Regency, the commemoration included a symbolic “long march” led by HIV/AIDS activists, culminating in a ribbon distribution ceremony at the Tambun Police Station.
