Dodgers Exploring Reunion with Former General Manager Farhan Zaidi
The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly in discussions with Farhan Zaidi, a familiar face with a strong connection to the organization, about a potential front office role.
Zaidi, who served as the Dodgers’ General Manager from 2015 to 2018, recently parted ways with the San Francisco Giants after a six-year tenure leading their baseball operations. The news, reported by Fabian Ardaya and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, has sparked excitement among Dodgers fans who recall Zaidi’s contributions to the team’s success during his earlier stint.
During his time in Los Angeles, Zaidi worked closely with Andrew Friedman, the Dodgers’ current president of baseball operations, as his top lieutenant. Together, they established a winning culture and built a roster that consistently contended for championships.
Following his departure from Los Angeles, Zaidi took the reins as the Giants’ president of baseball operations. While his time in San Francisco yielded mixed results, with only one playoff appearance in 2021, Zaidi earned praise for his savvy talent evaluation and knack for uncovering hidden gems.
“"We landed Blake Snell, Matt Chapman and Jorge Soler late last offseason,"” Zaidi reflected on his later efforts.
However, the Giants consistently lacked the star power to challenge the Dodgers and San Diego Padres for divisional supremacy.
Zaidi’s return to the Dodgers would bring a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success. It also underscores the strong relationships he cultivated during his initial time with the organization.
“He’d bring more than a decade of high-level experience along with his personal connections Friedman, GM Brandon Gomes, and senior vice president of baseball operations Josh Byrnes,” noted sources familiar with the discussions
As the Dodgers look to bolster their front office, Zaidi’s experience and familiarity with the organization make him an attractive candidate.
