Bangor ‘taking nothing for granted’ in bid to go 13 points clear in Playr-Fit Championship – The Irish News

Bangor FC Aims to Cement Top Spot Against Newington at Inver Park

Under the Friday night lights, Bangor FC will look to extend their lead in the Playr-Fit Championship when they face league bottom-dwellers, Newington, at Inver Park.

Just before the holiday break, Bangor saw their impressive winning streak halted last weekend in a 1-1 draw against Armagh City. Tackling Newington presents the Seasiders with a golden opportunity to return to the winning column and further solidify their current dominance. Midfield maestro Marty Bradley emphasizes the team’s hunger for victory: "Newington next and we’ll get back on track."), confirming the team’s focus.

"Thankfully, the results we’ve got have put us in a strong position and being 10 points clear coming into Christmas is brilliant," Bradley acknowledges, reflecting on Bangor’s impressive season.

But the seasoned campaigner insists against complacency: “But it’s still a long way to go. This league, you know what it’s like by now, bottom beats top randomly every other week, so we just have to keep going, just keep going the way we have been going – get back to winning ways again.”

“We’ve become used to winning, and for us, it’s about getting straight back to winning ways – that’s the plan.”

In Saturday’s matches, Limavady welcomes Newry City, Dundela hosts Institute, Ards faces Ballinamallard at Clandeboye Park, and Armagh City takes on Ballyclare Comrades at Holm Park.

With the holiday season upon us, Bangor will look to secure a result that solidifies their spot at the top of the table and brings positive tidings into the new year.
