Carrick-on-Suir GAA Club’s bumper 12 Days of Christmas Draws get underway

Carrick Swan Club Wraps Up Successful Year, Looks Ahead to 2025 Season

The Carrick Swan Club is bustling with activity as the summer season comes to a close, reflecting on a successful year and gearing up for an exciting 2025. Off-field initiatives are in full swing, with the club’s annual 12 Days of Christmas Draw kicking off on Tuesday, December 5th.

Excitement is building as draws take place every weekday evening at 7:00 PM and every weekend at noon. Eager fans can keep up with the results by checking the club’s Facebook page, where updates will be posted daily.

"The club extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported the draw once again this year," a spokesperson shared. "This vital support allows us to continually improve our facilities."

Looking ahead, the club is also preparing for its Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for Friday, January 10th, 2025.

The AGM is an opportunity for the community to get involved, as the club actively seeks new volunteers to help with administrative tasks. "Even just a few hours a month can make a big difference," the spokesperson emphasized. "Reach out to any current committee member or connect with the club through its Facebook page to learn more about the many rewarding roles available."

Beyond the Field

While many associate sports clubs with on-field activities, the Carrick Swan Club recognizes the crucial role that off-field contributions play in a successful organization.

"Volunteering with Carrick Swan is a fantastic way to connect with the community, expand skill sets, and directly support the club you love," they stressed.

"Don’t assume you need to be a coach to make a difference. We have a wide range of opportunities for those who want to contribute off the field, ensuring everyone feels valued and supported."

Celebrating Achievements, Honoring Legacy

The official end of the playing season brought a wave of appreciation. The club thanked all players and coaches for their dedication and commitment throughout 2024.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone back in action for 2025—and for many more years to come," a Club spokesman shared. "Here’s to continued growth, teamwork, camaraderie, and hopefully success.”

While celebrating the present, the club also paused to remember the past.

The Carrick Swan Club extended its condolences to the Duggan family of Marian Avenue and the Flynn family of Ard Mhuire for their recent losses. In addition, the club fondly recalled former player Shamie Flynn, who passed away recently in England.

Sharing memories of Flynn’s career and contributions to the club, the spokesperson reminded everyone of a Mass to be celebrated in his honor at St Nicholas Church on December 7th at 7:30 PM: "Shamie will be deeply missed, and we offer our heartfelt sympathy to his family both here and abroad. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.”

Keeping the Spirit Alive: Youth Programs

The energy continues in the club’s Youth Scene, as the younger generation embraces the fun and camaraderie of off-season outings.

Last weekend saw the Under 10 girls striking pins at Hotshots Bowling in Clonmel, while the Under 8 girls enjoyed a thrilling day at World of Bounce.

Looking forward, the Under 7 Cygnets will visit the Carrick-on-Suir Fire Station on Friday for a special Christmas event.

The young Under 9 boys are gearing up for a PlayStation battle royale at an FC25 tournament organized exclusively for them, followed by refreshments to fuel their

spirit even further.

And adding another feather to the club’s cap, Charlie Torpey Walsh, who recently played midfield, contributed to the South Tipperary Under 13 Dom Browne Cup victory. South Tipp secured the win against Mid Tipp in the final.

Support the Future: Participate in the Club Lotto

Finally, the Carrick Swan Club reminds everyone about its weekly Lotto draw, marking another way to support the club’s future.

Last week’s draw resulted in nine winners who matched three numbers, each receiving €30. The numbers drawn were: 03, 15, 21, 27.

This week’s jackpot stands at €3,500, with the draw taking place on Thursday night. Tickets cost just €2, offering a fun and rewarding opportunity to help support the club’s continued success.
