Rosie O’Donnell Speaks Out After Daughter’s Third Arrest in Three Months
Chelsea O’Donnell, daughter of actress and comedian Rosie O’Donnell, has found herself facing legal trouble once again. The 27-year-old was taken into custody in Wisconsin’s Marinette County on November 18th, marking her third arrest in just three months.
Chelsea faces a slew of charges, including two felony counts of methamphetamine possession, a felony count of narcotic drug possession, and two felony counts of bail jumping. Additionally, she is charged with four misdemeanors, including resisting or obstructing a police officer, possession of an illegally obtained prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The news of Chelsea’s latest arrest comes as a heartbreaking development in her ongoing struggle with addiction. Responding to a reporter’s query on Instagram, Rosie O’Donnell acknowledged the situation, saying, "So yes this is true… After being bailed out by her birth mother – chelsea was arrested again – and is facing many charges related to her drug addiction. We all hope she is able to get the help she needs to turn her life around – #drug-addiction #tragic #sadness #truth.”
This most recent arrest follows two previous incidents in September and October. In September, Chelsea was arrested on charges related to drug possession and felony child neglect. After posting a $2,000 bond, she was released, only to be booked into Oconto County Jail the following month on similar charges.
Chelsea’s struggles have been a public concern, with Rosie previously addressing the situation in October following Chelsea’s second arrest. Alongside a photo of Chelsea holding a baby, Rosie wrote, “Chelsea is in the news today – this is a photo from a better time. Sadly this is not new for our family. Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade – we are all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease."
Rosie adopted Chelsea with her ex-wife Kelli Carpenter in 1997. The former couple also share two sons, Parker and Blake, and another daughter, Vivienne. Rosie also has a daughter, Dakota, from her second marriage to Michelle Rounds.
Rosie’s heart-wrenching plea for help for her daughter sheds light on the devastating impact of addiction on families. While Chelsea’s future remains uncertain, Rosie’s unwavering support and hope for her daughter’s recovery offer a glimmer of optimism in the face of adversity.
