Connecticut Sun name 2020 WNBA champion as new GM

Connecticut Sun Looks to the Future, Elevating Morgan Tuck to General Manager

The Connecticut Sun have officially entered a new era. After a successful stint leading the organization, Darius Taylor will be transitioning to a new role as chief basketball strategist and director of scouting. Stepping into the newly vacated general manager position is Morgan Tuck, who brings both playing experience and front office expertise to the team.

Tuck’s journey with the Sun began in 2016 when the team selected her third overall in the WNBA draft. After four seasons with Connecticut, she went on to win a championship with the Seattle Storm in 2020 before transitioning to the front office side of the game.

Joining the Sun in 2021 as the director of franchise development, Tuck quickly climbed the ranks, adding assistant general manager to her title in 2022. Her deep understanding of the game, both on the court and off has impressed those around her.

“Morgan is a rising star in this industry,” Taylor said. “Watching her grow into the front office executive she has become has been nothing short of amazing. Her career has come full circle with the Connecticut Sun organization. I know she will be instrumental in propelling this organization to its fullest potential.”

Tuck expressed her excitement about this new chapter in an official statement released by the team.

“I am honored and excited to take on this new role with the Sun,” Tuck said. “Being able to be a part of this organization in various roles has prepared me for this moment, and I’m extremely appreciative for the guidance and support that I have received from our staff and ownership group.

“This is an exciting time for the Sun,” she continued, “and I’m eager to work alongside our coaching staff, players, and front office to continue the pursuit of our first championship. I look forward to this new chapter and the challenges ahead, as we aim to maintain a winning culture and create lasting memories for our fans."

The Sun are coming off a strong 28-12 season, narrowly missing a trip to the WNBA Finals. With a fresh perspective at the helm and a roster hungry for championship glory, the future looks bright for Connecticut.

Fans can already mark their calendars for the 2025 season. The Sun will open their campaign on Sunday, May 18, against the Washington Mystics at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The team will also return to TD Garden on July 15 for a matchup against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.
