Zverev reaches the final in Paris-Bercy and becomes world no.2. Sinner at the ATP Finals could now find Alcaraz in the group

The arrival in the final at the Masters 1000 in Paris-Bercy allowed Alexander Zverev to climb to no. starting from Monday. 2 in the world at the expense of Carlos Alcaraz. A result that could complicate Jannik Sinner’s path to the upcoming ATP Finals, scheduled from 10 to 17 November on the indoor hard court of the Inalpi Arena in Turin. If, in fact, until yesterday it was assumed that Sinner and Alcaraz were the top two seeds in the two groups, now the German will lead Group B.

Sinner will find Alcaraz or Medvedev in their group

So there is a risk that Alcaraz (who will be drawn as no. 3 together with no. 4 Medvedev) will immediately end up on the South Tyrolean’s side. The regulation, in fact, provides that, apart from the top 2, the subsequent seeded teams will be drawn in pairs: 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8. The first seeded in each pair will be placed in Group A, the another in Group B.

Djokovic is not yet certain of qualification

The defeat in the semi-final against Zverev definitively closed the doors of the Finals to Rune. In the running for the last 3 places (the safe fifth is Fritz, ndr) there are still 4 of them with the no. 6 of the Race Novak Djokovic who with 3910 points does not yet have arithmetic certainty given that he could be overtaken by Ruud (no. 7 with 3855) and Rublev (no. 9 with 3720), involved in the ATP 250 in Metz, and by De Minaur (n. 8 with 3745), on stage in the ATP 250 in Belgrade. For this to happen, however, it would have to happen that Rublev and De Minaur win their respective tournaments and Ruud reaches at least the semifinals.
