Warriors’ Draymond Green (calf) unlikely to play vs. Nuggets

Warriors’ Green Doubtful Against Nuggets as Warriors Seek to End Losing Streak

The Golden State Warriors are facing a crucial matchup against reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night, but the road ahead appears bumpy. Coach Steve Kerr delivered some somber news, revealing that star forward Draymond Green is doubtful to play due to left calf soreness.

"I would call it doubtful," Kerr stated regarding Green’s status. "We got to be careful. We will see how he holds up."

While Green, who’s been a pivotal figure for the Warriors this season, averaging 8.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and a career-best 40.3% from three-pointers, managed to play in all 19 of the Warriors’ games this season, his absence would be a significant blow to their already-struggling squad.

Green, who anchors the Warriors’ defense while orchestrating their offense, joins a growing list of injured stars on the team. Stephen Curry, who sat out three games earlier this season with an ankle injury, still grapples with tendinitis in both knees.

"This is what it’s going to be for our team at this point, and Draymond and Steph’s respective careers," reflected Kerr. "So we’ve got to try to keep their minutes down as best we can. We’ve got to try to keep them healthy by being proactive."

Curry, while listed as probable to play against Denver, admitted his knee pain was a new concern.

"This is what it’s going to be for our team at this point, and Draymond and Steph’s respective careers," Kerr stated. "So we’ve got to try to keep their minutes down as best we can. We’ve got to try to keep them healthy by being proactive.

"If they’re dealing with nagging injuries like Steph’s knees last week, like Draymond’s calf now — we got to manage it all for sure.”

If Green is unable to take the court, Kerr will turn to a combination of Kevon Looney, Trayce Jackson-Davis, and Kyle Anderson to take on the imposing challenge of guarding Jokic in this critical NBA Cup game.
