Arkansas Business Leader Tapped as U.S. Envoy to the United Kingdom
President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Warren A. Stephens, a prominent Arkansas businessman and philanthropist, to serve as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom.
In announcing the appointment on Truth Social, Trump highlighted Stephens’ successful business career. "Over the last 38 years, while serving as the president, chairman, and CEO of his company, Stephens Inc., Warren has built a wonderful financial services firm, while selflessly giving back to his community as a philanthropist," Trump wrote. He praised Stephens’ longstanding desire to serve his country full-time, saying, “I am thrilled that he will now have that opportunity as the top Diplomat, representing the U.S.A. to one of America’s most cherished and beloved Allies.”
Trump extended congratulations to Stephens, his wife Harriet, their three children, Miles, John and Laura, and their six grandchildren.
"President-elect Trump nominated Warren A. Stephens to serve as the ambassador to the United Kingdom, marking off another role in his growing list of administration nominations." This pick comes as Trump continues to assemble his administration, filling key positions in preparation for his presidency.
Stephens heads Stephens Inc., a privately held financial services firm based in Little Rock, Arkansas, which he has led for decades. Under his leadership, the company expanded significantly, establishing offices in major U.S. cities as well as internationally in London, England, and Frankfurt, Germany.
Stephens’ resume includes leadership roles in numerous organizations. He previously served as chairman of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) District Conduct Committee and currently sits on the Board of Directors of Dillard’s Inc., a prominent retail company.
Beyond his business achievements, Stephens has actively contributed to civic and community affairs. He has held leadership positions with the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, the Episcopal Collegiate School Foundation, and the Central Arkansas Boys and Girls Club.
“Under Stephens’ leadership, the company expanded into major U.S. markets and opened offices in London, U.K., and Frankfurt, Germany.” His extensive experience in business and community service suggests he may be well-suited for the complex role of representing the United States in a crucial international relationship.
Stephens’ nomination now awaits confirmation by the U.S. Senate.
